I wrote this poem and had RE Potter look it over. ...

From Stagnant Water

The rain had finally stopped. After two days of...

The shock flows through my mind

I repeat those words, written in pure despair

I feel stupefied and blind.

I recollect his smile and how it shined,

the shimmer of his eyes, the texture of his hair.

The shock flows through my mind.

He knew it was coming, he knew what was assigned,

But I was the one left without time to prepare.

I feel stupefied and blind

I wish that day would just rewind,

And think; this is something I just can’t bear.

The shock flows through my mind.

Second by second his memory feels confined

The wind blows it away, but I can’t seem to care.

I feel stupefied and blind.

I wish to feel closure and find nothing of the kind,

The pain does nothing but impair.

The shock flows through my mind,

I feel stupefied and blind.

There is some great feeling shown in this, though less clear is the subject matter. I liked the flow

I read it

and thought - rewind? maybe to go back in time and knock him out?

but that is another story - I liked it nontheless.

....

I feel as though this speaks about a breakup. It sounds just like one, the shock, the pain, it all sounds pretty realistic. Was I right? I liked this poem though, a real thinker.
