"Hello. I’m Mr. King,” he said, while vigorously shaking her hand. "Welcome to our company. I am sure that you have been briefed regarding the our status in the finance sector." She nodded. “Great, well let me show you to your work area." Hurried introductions were made. Everyone's name became a whirlwind, speeding through her mind, flying through one ear and out of the next. Everyone’s name with the exception of one young man: Jason. He was around her age and not really her type in the physical sort of way but he was so intellectually interesting. From the time he opened his mouth to welcome her, her heart felt as though it were in her throat. His eyes drew her to him in a hypnotizing way. Why was she feeling this way? She forced herself to speak coherently and eventually she began to relax. A friendship blossomed between them. They ate lunch together and talked on the phone for hours. They emailed each other during office hours as well. Suddenly she saw a handwritten note addressed to her. Her name: Michelle was written so lovingly. She nearly dropped it in anticipation of whom it was from. The letter stated how much he admired her. How he loved to stare at her caramel skin as she walked by. How he wondered if it felt as soft as it looked. Her heart fluttered. It wasn't signed but she knew who the writer was. It couldn't have been her boyfriend. He would never have done something so romantic. It would have to be him. As she looked up their eyes connected and she felt a warmth going through her body. Why was she feeling this way? She decided to meet Jason and speak to him about the letter. After all he had a serious girlfriend and they just couldn't. However their feelings overpowered what was right and they did the most hurtful thing to the ones they "loved" and went to the next level where they became more than friends. But they connected in so many different ways. The last thing he said to her before they crossed the line was that no matter what they always would be friends. But Michelle should have followed her female intuition. She should have realized that men say anything to get what they want. She told her boyfriend about her infidelity. The guilt was just too much to carry and she felt so much better after telling her boyfriend. But he reacted crazy at first, for he ranted and raved at her actions. Surprisingly he took her back. Michelle couldn't believe it for she was prepared for her punishment, which was to live her life without her boyfriend. The one person, who stayed with her through the convalescent period of the accident. The one person whom she realized truly loved her. When she arrived at work, Michelle told Jason that she had told her boyfriend about the infidelity. He told her that he had told his girlfriend as well. Michelle assumed that he would have felt the same way she did when she told her boyfriend. She tried to comfort Jason but he became cold and told her icily that he never wanted to speak to her again. Feelings of frustration and pain erupted in her heart. She tried to fight back the tears, determined that he would not have the satisfaction of seeing her cry. What about “no matter what they would be friends”? Empty promises. Why was she feeling this way? The next day Jason became friendlier with another female colleague, one whom he knew she disliked. Every time she was in the room, he would strike up a conversation with her, looking slyly across in Michelle's direction. He had a point to prove. She was determined not to let him prove that point. But as she returned home from work, the tears sprung to her eyes and fell down her cheeks. Why was she feeling this way? Copyright 2007 Laura {moscomment} |
