He was floating out in the cold, unforgiving vacuum of space, floating towards her. 'Impossible!' he thought, 'She died! I saw that she died!' It did not matter; he was getting closer to her. When he was five feet from her, the woman tilted up, the two space suits parallel to each other. Then their faces were intertwined, examining the other. “Joan? My God, Joan!?” The man was overwhelmed, tears swelled in his eyes.
The radio crackled, “Charles...” She grabbed his hand, tilted her head down, but kept her eyes locked with his. He gulped, “...how?” Joan pressed a button on the side of her suit's helmet. The glass slid up, yet she was still alive. Charles did the same. Next thing he knew, she had pulled him to her lips.
Then something happened.
'Why am I so cold? Even with the seal of the suit broken, I wasn't cold. He looked at Joan and saw her skeletal remains floating. Then he could feel his entire body solidifying, as if he was freezing from the inside out. Charles tried to scream, but his lungs lacked oxygen.
“No!” he bolted upright in the small bed. The window next to him viewing the empty black infinity of the universe. Then something appeared. A humanoid shape, in a white space suit. It came closer to the window, and then he saw Joan was Joan no more, but she was one of them...
