Hello, my name is Chris Garter and the following events that transpire are to be taken with extreme relevance to the situation at hand. I entered into the United States military marine core as soon as i turned 18, earned top honors in my basics introduction course and took full opportunity to register for the S.E.A.L. training course known as BUDS. I served my time for my country but we wont bother with those stories lets stick to the one at hand. After retiring I became a spelunker, cave diver, looking into the earth for answers that i could not find on it.Doing most of my work in central and southern Texas where the Edwards aquifer branches out off the Mississippi. Many of the caves you visit in the United States are Limestone formations which took thousands of years to form, but the Midwestern caves are formed from a newer layer called basalt. Basalt erodes much quicker then limestone therefore many of the caves I explored were uncharted and new additions to the caving world. I would go as deep as they would take me then mark my way back out, good money and an easy job, at least for ex-military. This is where my caving experience and military knowledge come into direct contact with one another, and where my story begins.
I had just flown into Houston airport when i received the call. My commanding officer informed me, in shaky, fearful voice, that a 12 man team of Seals had gone missing two weeks prior in northern Afghanistan while investigating a cave system suspected to be the location of Osama Bin Laden. At first thought i couldn't understand why this would involve me unless I was being reactivated for duty, but he assured me that was not the case. He then informed me that all twelve had been found by an amature spelunker 3,000 feet beneath the island of Crete. I asked again to verify the location and he assured me that the information was viable. "How did twelve U.S. navy seals find there way underground that far?", I asked. "They didn't", he replied. "Ten of them were crucified alive on makeshift crosses, boards were placed underneath there feet so there death would be lengthy, and the flesh from the tip of the shoulder to the elbow was flayed back and tied next to there mouth." "These men were forced to eat themselves or starve." The other two were found lying on the cavern floor, their chests had been split open from the navel to the chin and the vital organs had been removed, partially devoured, then reinserted back into the body cavity." I knew Taliban insurgents were heartless and cruel, but men of this caliber rarely find themselves in a situation that they aren't trained to handle. I was informed the bodies were being introduced topside within the next hour and the families would shortly be notified. KIA was the best explanation anyone could offer, and I didn't argue with that point. My job was simple, I was too explore the cave system in which the men were found, looking for any alternate routes that could have produced them arriving at that particular location. I was given control of a five man mercenary unit, unlimited funds, and a 3 month time period to locate the correct tunnels. So began my journey into the dark, to justify this nameless deed, to fight an unknown enemy, and to prove all the nightmares you have as a child true.
