"What happened to Daddy?" a little girl asked her mother.

"He went out of the dome," the teary-eyed mother responded.

"Why did he do that?" the daughter asked again.

"He remembers the world, it's driving us all mad not to see it," the mother wept.

"Don't worry mommy, I won't go crazy," the daughter consoled. The mother wept harder at this. She looked up at the transparent dome she was under. She saw the sun and the lack of clouds and somewhere up there was the ozone. Somewhere.

She looked around the grass covered dome that the leaders and scientist called the Greenhouse. The mother looked out beyond the dome and saw the barren landscape. It reminded her of the far-away place she had known as the Sahara. Now it wasn't so far. She looked at the outside temperature gauge. 210 degrees centigrade. Five more than last year.

She hated it. The smell was awful, there was no wind, no rain, no weather. There was nothing they could do. Nothing. No one could figure out how to put their world right. No one.

Short and interesting glimpse at a different world. I agree it would be interesting to see this as part of a longer story.

Short and Sweet

I really liked it. It gives just right amount details to make readers' imaginations go wild. I would be very interested to see and prequel to this story.
