Why am I dabbling in this particular subject? Well, frankly it’s to press onward and explore uncharted waters, and I dearly hope I am not lost in them. I am not the first to explore love’s boundaries, perhaps in this case shortcomings. We shall follow three lovers on love’s circuit for they say life is a circle.
Ishmael adored her. Mary adored him. How simple it sounds. Isaac and Mary, the Couple to Behold. Both teenagers, new to holiness of love. One night, as they always say, Ishmael spent a night with Goodlady Mary. This was not the first, but perhaps the last. But of course all things have a beginning, unless one were to consider a circle. Perhaps this story is why adultery is a sin.
Perhaps it was the moon, perhaps the stars, whatever it was went too far. Now all this could simply be smothered by the blanket statements: “Boys will be boys,” or better yet, “Live life to its fullest.” But love is a twisted thing that enjoys twisted company.
All relationships, even the Couple to Behold’s, have their ebbs and flows. On one day with the moon gone and tide low Gabriel met Goodlady Mary. How a goodlady could fall for an extra ordinary gentlemen, such as Gabriel, is quite beyond me, as are a great many things. Well, one night was, let us say, adequate.
After a month or so, Goodlady Mary had become rather far-flung. Perhaps it was that time of month, but this is a romance. Of course, upon hearing the news, Ishmael and Gabriel both claimed responsibility for rather different reasons.
Now this is an interesting clash of good versus evil. Who is which, your guess is as good as mine. Islam or Judaism? Well, at any rate, enough questions by an annoying author; after the initial reactions of delight, both parties busied themselves with plotting. If one were to suddenly die the community would surely accept the remaining as the father for the child’s sake.
Bearing this in mind the extra ordinary gentleman Gabriel set about plotting his plan. Now, Goodlady Mary fell for Ishmael for many reasons, among them was his superior intellect. When Gabriel pushed his diabolical scheme into action, Ishmael acted with the presence of mind that characterized him. Gabriel’s plan was no match and quickly imploded.
This implosion, unfortunately, well that’s for the reader to decide, was not without its consequences. Both Gabriel and Ishmael lay slain. Such was the price of Goodlady Mary’s love.
Ishmael went to the 72 in the sky, while Gabriel went to serve his master. The village set about covering the lovers’ tracks. Their cover-up, as one might say, is history.
