Yeah Jess. But keep in mind this is a short story. Sometimes it's difficult to have very descriptive representations of the plot with the restriction on the length of the story.
If you have to be choosy with the descriptions, I think John did an excellent job to make the brutal "troll eating the children" scene as bloody descriptive as possible. After all, this is supposed to be a horror story.
