I also have a huge interest in firearms and I can definitely relate.   Some advise if I may: deal with the fuckers that are insulting you. I am not telling you to “annihilate” them, but kick their asses. Please! You will only have to do this a couple of times. After that everyone will get the message, believe me, and they will leave you the fuck alone. One way or another you must stand up to them.
