Ideas such as generation ships, wormholes, teleportation, electronic weapons, intergalatic travel; it's all so interesting and complex!     I see the symbolism of this story. Jones thinks of things scientifically using psychology to judge others. Malachi sees the bigger picture.     And the name Malachi. That was definitely used for it's relation to religion.
