From personal experiences, I always hope that people in this type of situation should not fall prey to what I call "the cycle." The cycle would be becoming the very thing they hated about the other person. It happens all too often, especially with abusive relationships. I think the first and most important thing to do is try to make sense of it (even if it never makes sense), like the young girl did in this story.    Whew... your stories get me thinking. I like 'em.
