Don't people understand life is risk and reward? Laws are there as infrastructure for your mobility through the good and the bad. If it's all grey what difference should it make? Divorce on amicable terms. Derrick had claimed to not love her. Why can't Evelyn simply claim she found love elsewhere? Jeff gets it easy while everyone else is worse off.
