Hey, FutureWriter, thanks for the comments. You really made me think. I went back and reread what I had written and I still stand pretty firm by what I wrote. The ending is a reflection of Rob's Theory. Consider that before she even knew it was Rob and that he was going to do anything harmful to her, she was ready to inflict harm on him (the thought of the pepper spray represents this). Also, the thought, "Don't be him" could also be considered a double-edged comment ("Don't be him in the car" or "Don't become him"). In essence, she was presented with a perfect scenario to "finish the job" and probably get away with it and her instinct was to take it--just as Rob theorized. Her reasons (though not discussed) could be because she figured him for a serial killer, because his theory is more than a theory it is a belief. A code by which he lives, to get asleep at night. In the end, Rob is laughing at her because she is living out his theory.
