I wanted to know what had made things the way they are, I suspect maybe this is more of a metaphor for the decay of the world? Thats how I took it anyway. I'm not sure if I should suggest a sequel, sometimes its the not knowing of why things are that makes things more sinister. I give the example of the xfiles, that show was awesome until they explained what the big conspiracy was.  One thing, I found occasional uses of old fashioned words to not really suit the tone of this post apocolyptic piece, naught, afore, morn.
