Yeah i know what you mean. I promoted my stories because it seems like there is just a HUGE flood of people posting sometimes and the stories dont stay on the recent stories for more than a couple hours sometimes then they get lost. i go through and read ones i missed but i know not everyone does that. its purely pride... i wanted my stories to be read, but not for THIRTY DAYS that'll teach me to be more observant eh?

Exactly.....and I am sure that some of your stories belong on the front page. But you realize that everyone is goign to pick to have their stories promoted, you know?

You know what.I feel sorry for admin.They are trying.I suppose they wanted to improve the ratio of comments.I think Allmine has a point.Maybe if they could make some space and add the top hitted stories of the week.But I say keep the buy the space for the moment and see where it goes.If it does'nt work then go back to the old way.But Lemon is right.Limit to a few days and maybe 2 or 3 stories per author.

idk if this would be a solution or not,but its worth a try. what if the top half of the page was the old way like the popular stories of the week and the bottom half was the promoted stories? like they could be seperated by a heading that was PROMOTED STORIES and another that was POPULAR STORIES or watever. that way everybody's happy.

I know, we all ***** at the admin. And the idea of having to comment to get points to do things is a fantastic idea. 2-3 days of promotion, or put the stories in a hat and they get 2-3 days out of the month somewhere, or something like that.

But there has got to be some compensation (that word used loosely) to having a good short story. You know?

i think the half and half idea could be good. or just having the stories promoted above whatever story you are currently reading instead of taking up the WHOLE front page.


Another idea would be to LIST the promoted stories in a sidebar on the front page (no image), but still have the most popular stories on the main section of the front page with their image attached. know what i mean?

Good idea Lemon, ams and allmine.But remember the most popular stories were'nt always the best.There were some corkers , sometimes.
