I think most bands are quite mediocre. The Velvet Underground is the only one that stands out. Maybe a few songs of The Doors and The Rolling stones and some old Pink Floyd songs - mostly the early works. The Velvet Underground is the best band ever, by any standard.

Among artists, no one even comes close to Bob Dylan. And then there's Leonard Cohen - especially his first album. And John Coltrane.

I think these are the only names even worth mentioning in the so-called modern music genre.

Max, Beethoven has no place here. You shouldn't even be mentioning his name. Western classical music is a different league altogether. Much to superior to any of the modern music.
