I like potter's idea about commenting on others stories to earn a submission. I like to read other people's stories but I've got to admit I don't always post a comment; especially if I just dont like the story I feel no need to make an 'i didnt like your storyline' kind of comment. It does nothing to help the author technically with their writing. anyway potter's idea is a good one
Even a comment on how you think their story could be better(grammar,plot,ect...just be respectful and everyone on a mature level should not get to upset. If you simply hate a story or poem,,move on,,theres alot to read on here past and present.

Yeah, I guess I should leave SOME kind of comment on every story I read. I just like leaving some kind of input in addition to letting the person know I just liked their story and on some there isn't much to be said that hasn't already been addressed by previous commentors. but I get what you are saying.

Oh no no no thank YOU for the great suggestion.

Our current credit system grants the member 1 point for posting a comment longer than 150 characters in length and 2 points for being the first to comment on a story. You get none for commenting on your own stuff. You can submit up to 2 stories per day without spending any credit, but you have to use 10 credits for posting additional story after that.

So maybe I can make a small change, so that you need to use 10 credits to post a story whether it's your first one for the day or not, and put a daily limit of 3 stories for everyone regardless of how many credits they have in their account. Of course, I am not saying this is the way it's going to be. Just tossing some ideas around...

How does everyone feel about that?

I think go with the first idea, that you can post two a day. I think this will encourage the most user participation by making people comment and get points if they really wish to post multiple times, like chapters in a series. But they still have the option of not commenting on others work if they so desire, and that should be a choice. The second idea sort of forces people to comment in order to post, which might turn people away and takes away the free to use membership' feel of the site.
Absolutely brilliant changes by the way, I really think you should be proud of your efforts mr admin, really shows that your aiming to improve and expand this site, and that you value the users opinions

Actually, the 1 point for 150 characters in a comment is good, and 2 points for the first comment is also good. But I still think some points (maybe not ten)should have to be used to post any story,,,and yes,,,cut it off at 2 per day.
