we have a ebb and flow sort of thing going on here. sometimes we are writers, sometimes we are readers, sometimes we are both.

now...

many of us are here to have our stories read and to maybe get feedback and maybe not.

so...

there are times when some of us are shut down and stories will linger on the "new" list for three to four days.

and

when we all shift out of the writer daze and start churning out stories - it is completely possible to post a story in the morning and have it get pushed off the "new" list by the time the sun goes down.

and so what?

so, if you go into a writing stream, or if you are in the process of editing stories you have written over the last two hundred years and posting them -

think first...

if you post three stories you push off three stories...

and

if i post three stories i push off another three stories...

and

if russell goes nuts and clicks the poet switch and posts three poems and three stories, he pushes off six stories...

the next story bumped off the front is you.

and so on and so on and scoobey doobie doobie...

if you post three in a row, it is possible for all three of your stories to literally disappear before the mainstream gets home from work...

so

don't bunch up.

we all have to fight the excitement that comes with clicking the button to submit...

be patient.

we have had people come, submit, and then leave because they couldn't build traffic. many times, that is the reason. post one a day, or every other day - whatever your patience can tolerate.

by keeping a story on the front page, you keep your profile where people can see it...
