the news, the olds, what's the difference? 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago
i don't watch the news.

because, after you reach a certain age the news is the olds.

nothing changes, except the names...

but today i glanced at a news(olds)paper and saw this headline:

U.N. urges global moratorium on the death penalty.

right under that it said:

U.S. joins China, Iran and Syria in voting against the nonbinding resolution.

now put on your thinking caps and bubble wrap, we need to take a ride.

first, moratorium on the death penalty? bravo, but first why don't we put a moratorium against killing large groups of people because they come from a different tribe, nation, or just plain because they are in the way? or maybe a moratorium against governments killing thousands of civilians? rwanda, darfur, armenians... no, wait, stopping genecide doesn't make any sense.

second, nonbinding. nonbinding. nonbinding? what? you get a group of adults that are representative of our world's nations, the collective thoughts, morals, and principals of the world - and they hold hands and wish for something good to happen? nonbinding?

"sign here"
"does it mean anthing?"
"nope"
"oh, okay"
-----
"there it is ladies and gentleman, we now have an agreement that means nothing... hmm.. err... what should we call it?"
"how about a nonbinding agreement?"
"yes, i like that... Why just look at the number of letters in that word. Impressive."

third, well, i'm sure that there were a number of nations that want to kill their own bad guys, but the writer of the column chose only to mention the u.s. along with: china, iran, and syria. what do you think. out of the entire representative population in that room, only the u.s., china, iran, and syria raised their hands? or did the writer feel inspired to compare my country to three nations that are on the bottom of my "i like'm barrel"?

okay, i'll shut up now.

u.n. wimps...

opps, that slipped out.

thought i was done, didn't ya...

i just wanted to make sure that my opinion on the death penalty is placed in a nonbinding fashion along with the original post...

i don't care.

we all began dying the moment we were born...

sending a bad guy to the table, or chair, or the rope, in my humble is nothing more than speeding up the process...

now i'll shut up.

it should be united wimps, not united nations... (did i say that out loud?)

today must be angry tarhead day...

Well it doesn't matter because none of these countries are doing anything good for the world, and the ones that are, are far to small to make a difference. So what does it matter? If China, the US, and India don't follow or set the standard, it won't mean all that much.

I actually think that rotting in jail is a far worse punishment for some evil people, murderers rapists etc. They should sit there until they're old, wasting their life then die. Why give them a quick exit from that punishment when theyre going to hell anyway?
