I dunno if it counts or not, but The Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan got War all over it (Fantasy novels though).

Aside from that... Not read anything else yet on War, but I wanna read Starship Troopers someday.

Speaking of sries; two which I read a lot of in my young twenties...
The Casca series by Barry Sadler

and

The Ratbastards which I cannot find anywhere.
