does anyone know why 18th century pirates, in popular culture at least, always have some weird grundgified celtic accent? Were they mostly celtic or something back then?

Youre right , we have many pirates in Ireland today, most of them got elected into government

lol....aaaaaargh! AAAAARGH! waak the plank with ya! (i dunno...ireland...lol..reminded me of pirate accents a bit)

Funny enough..I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Anyway to be silly, my husband says RRRRRR to me trying to be a pirate and I always tell him ssss, tttt, uuuuu, vvvv
