Promote your Short Stories and Get more Comments 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Many writers like to share their short stories at Storiesville.com because they enjoy receiving useful feedbacks from the readers (whether it's a positive or negative comment). However, sometimes we see a few members getting frustrated with the lack of comments to their stories. So we decided to put together a list of things you can do to attract more people to comment on your short story.

Create a Buzz.
Before you write and submit your story, let people know that you are working on a short story through writing/literature related forums or blogs. You know how movie makers promote their movie trailers before releasing their movies to get people excited. You may also get some pointers or suggestions that you can take into consideration when writing your story.

Studies show that only 1% of people actually take their time to leave a comment for the things they read online!
It's pretty straight forward. Simple science of probability - the more people read your story, the more likely that they are going to leave comments. So how do you attract more people to read your story? There are number of methods that you can use. We recommend utilizing the social book marking sites, like Stumbleupon.com, Reddit.com, or Digg.com. When you submit your story to the social book marking site, feel free to post an entry at our forum to let us know. If we liked your story enough to publish on our website, it's good enough for us to give thumbs up.

Ask others to read and comment.
Sometimes it may be as easy as asking. Do you have a group of friends who may appreciate reading short stories? Invite them to come read your stories and let you know what they think by leaving comments. You can easily send your stories to your friends by clicking on "Send this story to friends" button at the end of the published stories on this website.

Also do you have a personal blog or website? How about placing a link to your Storiesville profile to let your visitors know that your short stories have been published on Storiesville.com and encourage them to comment? The url to your profile should be "http://www.storiesville.com/your username"

You scratch their backs, they may just scratch yours, too.
Do you ever notice that certain members receive many comments while others don't? Their secret is "Participation" - How can you expect others to read and comment on your stories if you are not willing to do the same for them? Storiesville.com is not just a place for submitting your stories for publicity. This is a place where the writers and readers can meet and interact with each other. So please help us build an active community for both writers and readers by participating.
