Why was my short story rejected for publication?
There could be a number of reasons for declining your submissions for publishing on our website. Please refer to the previous post, Short Stories Submission Guidelines, for more details on some of the criteria we may go by in selecting the short stories.
However, one thing that we would like to cover the base on is that many short stories are submitted with full of spelling and grammatical errors. As we understand that sometimes the writer may actually choose to use these errors on purpose to strengthen the characters and better represent her/his story, it is very difficult for us to review and determine whether those errors were placed in the text intentionally or mistakenly.
Therefore, we would appreciate it if you could run a simple spelling/grammar check before submitting your short story. If you can afford to spend a few of bucks, we recommend the writers to consider using
WhiteSmoke - Writing Software. Not only that it provides the function of an excellent spelling/grammar check, its features also include:
- Spelling/Grammar Check
- Punctuation Correction
- Dictionary and Thesaurus
- Adjective and adverb suggestions for text enrichment
- Various templates for professional and casual letters and emails.
- Translation to 17 different languages
If you do decide to give
WhiteSmoke a try, make sure to use the coupon: #2525 to get 25% off.
How do I edit my short stories that have been already published?
At this moment, we do not offer an option for the writers to revise their submitted stories directly from the website. However, if you would like to make some changes after you’ve submitted your work, you may do so by re-submitting your short story with the tag: “EDITED:” in front of the title.
How long would it take for Storiesville staff to review and publish the submitted short story?
Since the number of submissions varies from day to day, we cannot make a guaranty on how long it would take for us to review and publish your submitted stories. However, we will do our best to get to your story within a week after the submitted date.
