i know what a board is.
i know what it means to dash.

what i don't know is how the two words came together to become a part of my car.

dashboard?
what were they thinking?

and why is it that my health insurance folks will pay mega bucks for treatment if i get lung cancer from smoking - yet they will not help me to pay for a smoking cessation plan?

huh?

so that the life insurance companies that linger under the same umbrella can charge me more for their services?

but that last thing was just a distraction - i really, really want to know the answer to the dashboard thing...

It's actually dash as in French for dial, you can read all sorts of dials on the 'dial'board, the speed, the fuel. If you dont believe me look here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/special: search?search=dialboard&fulltext=Search.

i refuse to do anything french.

and since the dials are going away and everything thing is moving to digital, i think we should invent a new work. hmm

one would think that by now, we would all have a heads up display on our windshields!

wow. here's a little warning, if it's a long story - cut and paste it - then save it. i sat and edited the 1135 series to add put them all together under the same title, and add the ending...

it took a long time.

my browser timed out.

when i hit the save icon, the screen returned the "must be signed in" message.

i was a little sad......

so i did it again. made a few changes, saved. changes, saved. changes, saved.

it's done.

i went back and removed all of the past 1135's. i gotta say, that sucked. it was like tossing my children off of a cliff. the worst part was losing all of the great commenets and guesses at where the story was going.

the up side is that i freed up space for eleven more stories on my front page. i didn't realize how many stories i had posted until i noticed that some of my stories were missing when i was playing with the series today. turns out i rolled over to a second table of contents.

i was thinking, as i was deleting stories that the joke would really be on me if my entry was too big and couldn't be published...

the entire series pegged out at about 7,500 words.

i heard the term alcohol abuse and thought - impossible. if it had a benefit you could abuse it, but it has none. it's only purpose in life is to intoxicate.

i thought that was no such thing as heroin abuse also, but i was wrong...

it was once used medically. did ya know that?
