i think i may have the perfect story for teh podcast but im gonna need to rewrite it.
is 4000 the limit or is it okay if it goes a little over?
is there a certain date that it has to be sent in by?

Can be a bit over. That's not a drop-dead limit.
No deadline to get stories in by, we publish year-round -- usually two stories per month.

I have not counted how many words are in my stories, but I have some pretty short ones.

We're not super-strict on length. Send 'em in if you want and we'll give 'em a look.
BTW, best to send in as MS Word or text or PDF attachment (rather than links to your page someplace.)
Our process is we have three submissions editors read each story. If any one of them recommends, stories get a second read and a decision is made on acceptance.

cool ill send a couple in but they are like a little longer than 4000 words.
some are in the 6000s is that too long?
