Best War Novel? 3 Months ago
I'm guessing we've all read one, or many many more than one, over the course of oyu days; what is your favorite war novel?

For me it is a toss up between 'The Red Badge of Courage' by Stephen Crane and 'A Farewell To Arms' by Ernest Hemingway. There are many others I like, but these two I've read multiple times and likely will pick them up again. Why, oh I suppose the way the characters step up to the unpredictable pressures of war and grow amdist the loss all around them.

Well...to be honest.....I can't think of one. I know that I have read the Red Badge of Courage, but can't remember much about it...hmmmm....I know that I haven't read any lately either. I am just a fountainful of useful knowledge on this one..NOT!

Enjoyed both, flags of our fathers was a great read, a so-so movie.

I haven't read one yet, but I have two: Flags of Our Fathers and Johnny Got His Gun. Last novels I've read were 1984, Frankenstein, Grapes of Wrath, and Brave New World. Since I finished Brave New World ahead of schedule I can start on those two war novels, or I can start on Dracula.

Hum, I havn't read many war books lately. The few I have were all novel adaptations of films, sad to say. I remember reading 'The Red Badge of Courage' but that was several years ago.

*laughs* Looks like a trip to the library is in order...
