User moderators are prone to abuse and impartiality. Even if they don't mean to.

2 measures...

1- big-font Guidelines page (including perhaps prior to EVERY story submission?)

2- UI for reporting bigger and more prominent.

I wonder why there has only been 20 or so stories reported? I used the 'report this story' for that damn autonagar.com spam, and presto it was gone. The admin, who by the way is a legend for having this wonderful site available to us, introduced the autopublish because he cannot possibly read all the stories. So if you all find something objectionable, for all of the above reasons, I would think that reporting it will bring it straight to the admins attention so he can decide if its ruining the quality of this site then and there. To me this is the easiest solution, rather than hoping users will stick to a set of guidelines, especially when certain people will always find 'romance stories' pornographic, and others will find 'pornograhic' stories perfectly acceptable. Thats the nature of opinions, everyone see things differently. Again, use the report this story feature I say

No, no, no. There should definitely NOT be any fancy titles to give to users, nor should the auto-publish mechanism be removed... that would make Admin's job so much harder. I definitely don't want to impose too much responsability on our very amazing and generous enabler.

Things should stay as they are; I agree with Potter. There's AWARENESS now, so things should improve.

hmm...yeah...there is a huge gray area isn't there? But them... what about access by schools? it would be a pity to lose that.

Yeah..auto publish should stay, but we all need to be aware of the offensive button. I didn't realize there was one. Like Mr Saracen says, there is a gray area, but I think we are all mature enough to differentiate between slutty porno and artistic whatever the word I am looking for here. Right?

Sure, most of my stories have violence, and even a few have "adult" and inappropriate material, but I am not really tagging them, and besides, it has the adult content warning on them.

But this site, while having a romance section, does not need erotic stories, or porn of any variety. That is what the rest of the internet is for.

I don't know about that Quintin. I wrote what could be considered porn or erotic on here and it was very well recieved. I have also read some other things that are erotic by nature, but not nasty...there is a difference. That's where the gray area is...who's to decide?
