users are always talking about how great the service is. and it is - somebody else is assuming all of the cost. somebody else is buying the bandwidth, provided the servers, providing the support software, as well as incredibly great personal support.

its all about the numbers, especially in the beginning - hits are the only way to keep this website free.

because of a few brainless consequence-prediction challenged idiots publishing words like: "T****t A** For Great C***" , our school district servers (as well as most texas school districts) are now considering storiesville an adult site - and blocking it. which means that the average parental control filter will not allow it to pass either - cutting off a huge percentage of the net population (hits).

a lot of the folks that i brought to storiesville are educators - mostly english teachers and students - a whole school district worth.

now they are gone, storiesville can't get past the filters.

look at all of the "your advertisement can be here" spots at storiesville. how will those spots get filled if there is no 'hit' data to support the investment?

a perfectly good thing shot to hell by a small collection of brainless idiots. it's nice to consider yourself an artist, and there is a place for all types of art - but these folks have DAMAGED this site, and limited its potential to grow.

i think the webmaster was done a grievous wrong...

in an effort to make the system more accessible and faster for the users, they decided to rely on the good judgment of the people submitting - and got shot in the foot. here's the saddest part for the people that enjoy using this free site - if the webmaster cannot sell then he must start charging. sooner or later they are going to run out of physical space. and when that happens - i wouldn't be surprised if the folks that are destroying the site aren't be willing to pay to be here.

i'm sure it will get better, but until then, i will be content to read - there are quite a few really great writers there (here).

Agree with you whole heartedly. There is a great difference between stories of romance, and porn. Lately there has been a rash of xxx material...why? This site is about people who have a love of writing and want to hopefully entertain with stories they have developed within their mind. I have seen stories posted that may use a derogatory word or phrase to make a point,,,to me thats fine. It's the graphic material that's become more frequent since this site has grown that has me concerned. To write a explicit penthouse forum story takes no imagination or talent at all. If that is all you desire to post, then do it else where. Sorry if I sound like an old fart, but if I want porn, ill just turn on TV.

You are not an old fart. Fact of the matter is, I agree too. I know that I have written a somewhat risque story, but that was tame in terms of what has been on here lately. Also, writing naughty words just for the sake of writing them is definitely not what we want. I know that it used to be that the admin had to read all stories before they were posted on the site. I know when I submitted my "slutty story" I had to cross my fingers and hope that they approved it.

Having a fun story on here is one thing, having a sexually explicit story on here is one thing, but having a low class story on here is something entirely different. We must remember.....there are minors on here. That and us old farts who want something a little classier. Want to write porn...try literotica....

I agree with all of you.There was one 2 nights ago that would make Hugh Hefner blush. So how we gonna stop it, because there is always one thats gonna abuse it.I was thinking what about having moderators, users that have been here maybe from the start.If they see a story over the top, they have the power to get rid of it and send to admin to check. I am on one forum website that gives out bans ,maybe only for a week but it does the trick.I know these ideas are a bit heavy but if we want this site to not go down the roads as other poor writing websites then I think we have to do something.

It used to be that our stories were approved before being published here. I have written admin to suggest that they might want to think about implementing that again. I also told them that one of their popular members has left and that several of us were unhappy. It would be bad if we all left, especially since I like you guys a lot!

So maybe since a lot of us are in an uproar...the squeeky wheel gets the oil....
