Appreciate it. 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I don't understand forums, so excuse if this isn't forum-"able" material:
But I like this community, and I think the activity of the readers is remarkable. It's an egotistical venture to begin with, writing, and to have a site like this based on self-interested, user-contributed pieces and still get the amount of feedback that everyone, from first-posts to god-knows-how-many-posts, gets, is very unlike any "writing" groups I've seen.

In short, Thanks for being generous readers.

there is, fortunately - no extra charge for that service! we only ask that writers read, that's what makes this place rock!

we have some folks here that tend to write things like "comment and rate" (almost demanding) in the comment section of their own story, and if you go to their profile - you may find that they only comment on THEIR own material.

being the site-possessive dork i am, i support only writers that read. my first click when i arrive at a story title will be to the writer's profile (if i'm not familiar) - and into their comment tab. if they haven't commented on other, i will bypass their story. i probably miss a great deal of good stories, but, to me - the site is much more important.

it's a lucky find, and i really don't want it to change.

so my rule is: if the writer doesn't comment on the work of others, i will not read the writer's work.

I am just glad that this site is currently the way it is and I hope it does not end up like those countless fan fic websites with all those teens and their odd culture.

I have seen some fine work on this site. Hopefully with some help from my readers, I can get something published.

Yes,,most of us are generous readers and well as generous commentors. There have been a few to come through this site who like to comment in a harsh tone, which is their perogative. But one needs to remember that none of us here in storyville land are professional writers, we're just here having fun.

Having read your profile (if all you get are good reviews, then your being lied too)is all well and dandy, and probally true. But there are more impressionable kids and teens on this site than us oldies. When someone comments, which isnt often, its always nice to read something positive and give that person a reason to smile then how they did something wrong. If you have some constuctive critism, which is fine, (PM)that person with it so its not forever torn into the fabric of thier posted story. My rule of thumb, if a story is not very good to my taste, I just don't comment. Were all just doing the best we can.

This is not directed to you personally cooking wine, but to everyone who see it.

If any of us really want to get serious, then I recommend taking classes on creative writing.

Well, I guess I'm just harsh in that sense. It almost bugs me to get a comment that says good story with a winkface or something trivial like that.
But ultimately, you're right. Crash parties you're asked to go to, not the ones where you aren't invited.

Before I showed up on this doorstep, I was part of the community at 'storywar.com. There everyone would always bash people stories and the site lost members and ultimately went under. I left in august and the same stories our still on the front page... not many new ones. I don't see that form of bashing here at all, and would hate to see it start publicly and perhaps discourage members.
