I love it man! You’re very brave for posting this. I wasn’t expecting the “climax” of the story to be like that.
“Mile-High Club: Solo Aviators Division” that’s a classic.

Thanks everyone who read and commented. This letter did sound somewhat dated. Maybe, it’s the language used. I think it gives a special feeling to this letter. A veil of sincerity. That, or I had too many drinks. Good point R.E. Potter, “who really paints portraits anymore?” Depressing isn’t it? Suddenly, I feel like having my portrait painted.

Yes, David, jumping out of windows is bad, especially to those that might be walking below. ;)

Good story. I prefer ending number 3 too.

Please write more. I also want to see an enlarged version of this. Why not go into more detail. Also, it would be nice to get more of your feelings and solutions to the various problems you face right now. I also have a huge interest in firearms and I can definitely relate.
Some advise if I may: deal with the fuckers that are insulting you. I am not telling you to “annihilate” them, but kick their asses. Please! You will only have to do this a couple of times. After that everyone will get the message, believe me, and they will leave you the fuck alone. One way or another you must stand up to them. Better get a busted lip or broken jaw than live with the agonizing thought that you did nothing. Best of luck.

Nice story, I really enjoyed it. This story reminded me of Chandler's - Farewell, My lovely. The part were he was in the hospital drugged out of his head.

Sorry to hear about that darknstormy. Actually, I was thinking about your story today and I had a funny thought: what if Joe really did switch Chinook with a younger dog, but seeing how sad his wife also had been about his condition, then came up with the prayer ‘white lie’ story. Anyway, thanks for a great story and sorry about the real Chinook.

Good story
I agree with the processor, “...almost made a grown man cry.”
However, the last paragraph took that away. I feel cheated. Not that I want all old dogs to die, but maybe this one might have died to save my misery. I know sometimes I’m selfish that way. Anyhow, a very good story and well written.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read and comment on my story. I appreciate it. The main reason why I post some of my stories on this site is so that I can improve my writing through the readers’ much appreciated comments and criticism.
Some people decide to blow their brains out over nothing. I don’t think Jack was one of those people; I think he had a strong reason. Or, at least, he felt like he did. What I’m trying to say is that suicides happen everyday and although to most people (including myself) the motivation behind some of them sounds crazy, to some it isn’t. This reminds me of a story I once heard where a tsarist general shot himself, out of overpowering embarrassment, after he had farted in the dancing hall during a dance. Crazy- but suicide happens.
My biggest concern was whether readers would ‘buy’ the sudden change of heart of the protagonist. I felt that maybe there should have been more ‘signs’. Anyhow, thanks again for reading and commenting.
