Her Magic Touch, Chapter 1

She's not very attractive. No, that isn't quite...

About Myself: Well, I'm not a big fan of writing about myself. Nonetheless, here goes... I work full-time at the University of Missouri-Rolla as a Video Production Specialist in relation to Distance Education. When I'm not doing that I'm working with our independent production company (Onyx Dragon Productions, LLC). We've filmed many short films, worked on a few TV shows, filmed one full-length film (which is still in post production) and working on my first full-length, filmed a few weddings, commercials, worked with SIDEKICK Sketch Comedy of The Skinny Improv of Springfield, Missouri and many, many other projects.

When I'm not doing those types of things, I'm usually working with church matters and when I'm not doing that I'm usually relaxing... or writing.

Writing is one of my fondest passions. Though I think I have developed better into a script writer (rather than a short story or novel writer), short stories is where I started and I still enjoy them so.

Keep up the good works, peeps.

UPDATES-- (9-15-08)
1. Just uploaded "He Comes Upon a Wish" chapter one. This story is a western/horror mix. It gets back to the routes of my fictional city Babylon. In the establishment of Babylon, it was first named Canyon City and the name was changed to Babylon later in the 1900s.

2. In an unrelated writing note, we had our first child Aidyn Drake Weaver on August 26th. Ironically, one day after my eldest brother's birthday.

3. I made an impulse buy at Kmart the other day--I bought a pocket Thesaurus. Lame, I know. Word geek that I am.

Re: HelentheCelt
Due to the lack of details concerning Annie's attack, it limits what I can include and conclude from the attack.

The Mimic will become much more defined as the story goes and as the details concerning the case/attacks become much more vivid.

Your concern, Helen, seems to be the first and obvious concern by those who have read it. That it is vague, but those are the facts about Annie Millwood's attack. Though, we have not seen the last of Annie.

Solid
That was pretty solid.

I agree, very funny stuff. Guess it's a good thing I got abducted and probed after all.

And I really liked how you played yourself to be so arrogant, but you had parts that showed you really aren't because you allowed yourself to be made fun of.

And yes, the Island monkey line was random and amusing. It was very Steve Martin-esque.

Props.

Fun
This was very amusing. A nice start, well other than people dying.

This was very amusing. I loved the interaction between people. Very humorous stuff. I found myself desiring to make an appearance.

Though the end was quite the clifhanger. But I guess the important thing is that you lived... if we can call that important--yikes!

Good write. Excellent.

wow
I wish I would've died. I actually thought of killing myself off, truthfully.

...
In actuality I don't believe in aliens. This story was a blast to write. I had one day left, having been out of contact with the world for 2 weeks after Aidyn's birth. I really had no clue what I was gonna write and then somehow this ridiculous idea hit me and I wrote it in a whirlwind.

So absurd. I'm glad the peeps seem to enjoy it. It's like "Twilight Zone" on crack.

I like it
I'm hooked. On to the next chapter.

I really liked this, makes you think. Makes you think what in the world is happening or has happened. Either way. I'm in.

Fabulous...
And thought provoking. I often am the "fool" it seems, though I often sit back and remark. It is not foolishness or happiness that usually has me remarking but impoliteness and such. I enjoy looking from both sides, though. You have to in life. I don't know that I am ever "turned off" by peeps having a good time within the confides of reason, I suppose. I'm not sure if I just contradicted myself or not. But I would not think little of the couple, as a couple you gotta do what you gotta do.

Everybody has their own insights to happiness. For example, the greatest gift I could give my wife soon is "Fable 2" for Xbox 360. Most people would see that and think that I am the most un-romantic person in the world. But, we're not all the same, eh? Surely not. And it does take courage (or stupidity) to make a "fool" of one's self. Either way, it is often oh so relative.

Excellent story. I am happy to see you writing again. :)

I like it...
It's an odd, mysterious piece. I desire to keep reading it. Any story that explores dreams is usually pretty intriquing, I find. I have a screenplay on dreams I've been working on (slowly) for about 3 or 4 years. Anyway, write on.

Re: Dirkin
Regarding the passage, I wrote it that way because I didn't want to reveal her intentions through the subject. I realize it is kind of like "huh"? I may have to reconsider it though, it seems most people didn't seem to understand or appreciate the passage the way it was.

I believe her actions were based upon adrenaline, instinct and the theory Rob discussed with her. That since she was presented with an opportunity to "be done with him" and probably get away with it, she was going to take it. This would be the basic human instinct that Rob eluded to. This was kind of the idea of the story... I'm not saying it's my best.

One of these days I'll actually write the true story, in its complete form. It's actually better than this version, based loosely on the real event. Once I find time, I'll have to go through an interview with the person and put it together. Any rate...

It is interesting to me how this story seems to hit and miss so easily.

Trivia
1. Had a list of possible character names, one was Lucy in the Skye. Figured, naturally, that I would use it for a female character. When I began to write this chapter, I realized I didn't have a name for the neighbor and looked to my list--the only name remaining was Lucy in the Skye. I liked it, and used it.

2. The Rolling Stone is the first character I've ever written that smokes cigarettes. I found this tidbit odd. Never realized I had not included smokers in my stories until I decided he was going to get some cigarettes from Lucy... found myself thinking, "Hey, wait... this is a first." It took over 10 years of writing for me to write in a cigarette. Strange.

Oh wow! that is soo awesome congrats to you and your wife!

Yeah, I wrote those stories a long while ago. I'm going to clean them up and maybe post them again. Since I'm learning new skills all the time, my old writing seems terrible to me when I look back on it. I guess thats just the way it works, though
