About Myself: Hmmm, about me, in a 5x2 inch box.

Grew up in greater Boston. I had a great childhood but I was a rotten adolescent. I did quite well in science, math, fighting, and stealing.

Now I'm a rotten adult who lives in Oregon. I have a river behind my house and more animals than I care to think about. For money, I write engineering software. I write stories to make sure I'm still human.

I was just kidding about being rotten now, I've given that up. I've given up stealing too. Now that I think about it, I've given up on making millions of dollars, and I've given up on good government. I haven't given up, though.

Thanks
I've never had a story run away on its own like this one. It started out with full intentions of being humorous but then wrote itself. Too bad it wasn't a better writer. :x

Lost formatting
All my italics were lost. I have submitted an edit.

That was a great story
It was a happy, sad story.

Hello, and thank you
I'm 42 and I have no formal education but I love learning and was fortunate to learn software engineering at a young age. I worked shoulder to shoulder with many truly brilliant people who pushed me and prodded me to do better than I thought I could.

The formatting of this story got all messed up when I submitted it and it even re-arranged a paragraph but luckily it worked well.

Thank you for your kind words. This place is great and hopefully I will learn to write dialog from all of you.

Oops.
The formatting was stripped. The 1080 was supposed to read 10 to the 80th power.

Do you think God uses math?
The pureness of math has to be divine, but its utility is so great and powerful that I sometimes wonder if God Himself used it as scaffolding for His creation.

I think God had a secret friend in Plato. I think when Plato tapped into that realm of mathematical truth that we now call the Platonic world, I think God must have drawn him a map. I think it was a map to a place that is special to God, and transcends His earthly creation, because surely the Platonic world exists independent of man.

I think it is a miracle that I can write down a number that is the number of atoms in the observable universe using just 4 digits - 1080, but the observable universe is not large enough to hold the number of ways just one gene of our DNA can be arranged, of which only one of them is man.

Well, they say write what you know...
This one's about half true.

Thank you
I'm new here, and I have to read all these great stories!

This one was impulsive. I submitted a much longer story several days ago that runs in a completely different direction.
