About Myself: Accountant, 55, aspiring writer. Married 2 children, 2 cats (not married to the cats but they think they rule the roost). See gallery for more pictures - George was starting to demand appearance money so I relegated him to the background.......teach him to be sassy!

Ok, so we're pals again.........Hey George, see the nice reader? Kill !!!!!!

Started writing in July 2007 and found that I couldn't stop. Manuscripts now comprise 3 finished novels (60,000; 85,000; 65,000 words respectively) one in progress (currently 20,000), 2 compilations of short stories (total 100,000 words), and some messing around with poetry, although I must confess that it's not my favourite.

That started as limericks on birthday and anniversary cards and now I can't get off the hook.

If anyone knows of a cure............I may be interested (although not JUST yet).

First manuscript is now a finished and published novel "A Ticket to Tewkesbury" (see stories list for a preview and list of acknowledgements).

Unsure
I wasn't certain where you were going with this Helen, and the use of the font colour helped me through it - innovative that!

I didn't know whether she wanted him or not right until the end, and I'm not even sure now whether the 'gob' was for show or not.

Well done.

Phil

Style
Your style is quite different from that of anyone else on this site.

I liked the use of short sentences to portray her thoughts set at countrepoint with longer strings indicating descriptive text.

The whole thing gave out a feeling of poignancy.

Imagery
Lots of wonderful imagery in here, and I had to read it through more than once to get the feel for it completely.

A Really nice piece of work.

Memories
This one really pulled the season changeover right into focus, and like Hodders I was very impressed with your descriptive technique.

It brought back memories of childhood and all the 'important' things we used to do then.

Thanks
Phil

Lay-Off
Going to miss you, but that will only serve to make your reappearance all that much better.

WE can always just keep re-reading your old stuff to keep us in them right frame of mind.

You have my number - kep in touch otherwise you may be getting a call from DCI Marks, or worse Giorgio Gasparini!

So long.............

ps
Typical of you to think of the new starters and youngsters with the credits thingy.

Toxic
Aside from the chemico techno stuff which, in itself was impressive, this was one heck of a tale.

Loved the drama and cliff-edge uncertainty of the cure, and salvaging anything from the disaster would have been great.

To solve not one but two problems in a single fiendish sweep was a classic.

I'll have to buy another hat now so that i can take it off to you!

Yeee Haaaa!
Absolutely awesome technique of using our names to frame a story.

This could have come across as contrived without a great deal of care. Instead it just came across as hilarious.

Outstanding work Stephen. Talk to you again soon. Bring your winter woollies!! Burnley's very cold at this time of year.

Autobiographical
The story is one of the first I wrote, and is a bit rough around the edges, as spotted by Harmattan.

Nevertheless it's a benchmark of my writing, and is drawn from real life and my own family.

If you live in and around Langley Mill in Nottinghamshire where I grew up you would recognise the lcoations from the place names I use.

The three men are my grandfather, my father and myself and although the ending of the story is pure fiction, it reveals a gap in my knowledge of 'Joseph Taylor'.

Potter asked where it had gone, so here it is.

Memories
This took me back to my college days (I had the attic room in my digs).

Girlfriend has the single on the floor below and we spent many an hour doing just what was in your poem.

Scary isn't it when someone writes something like that.

Great feeling to the piece.

Surprise
You surprise me with the breadth of the subject that you use in your poetry Terry.

I don't find poetry easy to read, but this one got me right down to the end, and the 'sympathetic' attitudes of wife and prostitute was unexpected.

Good read.

Phil

I guess I'd better sign your guest book and say "Hi Dad".
You know what I think about your writing - I like most of them (except for the one about the spiders you horrid man!), and the ones I don't are just not my cup of tea rather than there being anything wrong with them. I like the ones I already know best, like the wine one, or the ones about George and Poppy and co, but that's because I already know the stories, but enjoy the way you tell them.
Anyway, keep going with it Dad - you need to start making some money though to pay for my lifestyle!!! Lisa

Wow.

You been reading all my stories and now I feel bad I've haven't read many of yours. That gonna change, though. Just read your 'Layers of Innocence' and that was brilliant. You are truely a talented writer, my friend. I think I might start on your 'Stick' series next.

Oh yeah, you can keep your cats. I'm allergic to them, they make me go blind.

Keep well,

Max
Feedback from Philip Neale (philneale1952): That's great because George says his passport is out of date anyway.

I must say, I like Lulu as well. I haven't published on it, yet, though. I'm trying to finish writing and polishing a collection of short stories. I really like the way Lulu works. It's very nice. I'll have to go check your collection on Lulu out. Write on.

Sit back and breath...popping stories out faster then the Spears sisters. I read fast, but not THAT fast.
Feedback from Philip Neale (philneale1952): In take 'em while they're there........no fresh ideas for a day or so, but got a stock af three or four to keep me going.

i read the disaster recovery story, and typically, after reading a story i bolt over to the writer's profile before i comment. just in case it's a young'un - i don't want to tip any tea kettles...

if i like the writer's style, i usually look to see if he/she has other stories - and i hope for one or two.

jeez - you have many...

now i have a ton of reading to do.

write on!
Feedback from Philip Neale (philneale1952): Errrrm..........there's fewer than there used to be.

Deleted 21 and published them in a book on Lulu.com so you won't see them here any more.

Had Potter grumbling at me for speed writing, but when the ideas are there, it's a shame to waste them.

Thought one up last week just as I was dropping off to sleep, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was now.

Must keep pen and pad by the bedside in future.

Damocles was one like that, but this time it stuck until morning.

HEY! I take it you and George are back to being chummy. Glad to see it. =]
Feedback from Philip Neale (philneale1952): Kind of, yes. This was also a warning to Punk that if he wants my cat he gonna have ta come and get him.............

Daughter took this one....you have to be quick with George otherwise he's apt to inspect the camera for himself.

He's myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cat and nooooooooobody can have him.....he's not even for rent.

Meooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
