Accountant, 55, aspiring writer. Married 2 children, 2 cats (not married to the cats but they think they rule the roost). See gallery for more pictures - George was starting to demand appearance money so I relegated him to the background.......teach him to be sassy!

Ok, so we're pals again.........Hey George, see the nice reader? Kill !!!!!!

Started writing in July 2007 and found that I couldn't stop. Manuscripts now comprise 3 finished novels (60,000; 85,000; 65,000 words respectively) one in progress (currently 20,000), 2 compilations of short stories (total 100,000 words), and some messing around with poetry, although I must confess that it's not my favourite.

That started as limericks on birthday and anniversary cards and now I can't get off the hook.

If anyone knows of a cure............I may be interested (although not JUST yet).

First manuscript is now a finished and published novel "A Ticket to Tewkesbury" (see stories list for a preview and list of acknowledgements).

Stuff like this, when it's done well, cuts right across national boundaries.

This was excellent and although written from a US point of view, it went right back to mu own childhood here in the UK.

Your descriptions of the back yard were the same as those of my own parents' house, and I'm now going for a cup of tea before reading it again.

Oh yes, great control of grammar and spelling, almost forgot that one.

Yes, this one had me looking over my shoulder.

Creepily written in unusual person to display the schizophrenia. Gripped me from the outset.

So calmly written in every-day manner that when the climax comes, although you just know there's evil in it, you aren't really prepared.

It's typical of the sort of thing my daughters finds fascinating, and you maintained interest through the dialogue and plot.

Deadly
Well, when the end came it happened sooner than I expected and in a manner for which I was quite unprepared.

You really have got a gift young man. There will be a few envious people on this site after reading this story.

You took time and trouble to lay out the characters and plot in detail before closing it off in the most dramatic manner, leaving an open-ended conclusion for us all to ponder.

Unease
There was a series of stories on UK television in the late 1960s called "Tales of Unease", and each weekly episode was a stand-alone piece of work.

Your writing in this chapter reminds me vividly of the scary feelings it brought to me - I was in my early teens then.

The pace has dropped quite suddenly and 'normality' has returned - except we all know by now that this is anything but normal.

Outstanding piece of direction changing - I'm off to the next part.

Tension Personified
From the start I just knew this was a bad one waiting to happen, and you strung the wires out so tight.

Bad is coming and we all know it - what we don't know is exactly how you're going to reel us in after we're on the hook.

The descriptive stuff is almost three dimensional, and although we can all be accused of back-slapping at times, this is something else.

It goes way beyond a simple sci-fi story, and all you've done so far is to sketch out the main characters.

Will be watching this one now I'm back on-side.

Dramatic
Sudden increases in the pace of a story have the inevitable effect of making the audience sit up and take notice.

You've done this very well at a crucial point in the plot.

Now comes a turning point where the "cure" has been administered and you shut down the plotline until the next chapter.

Outstanding control over the feed of information to the reader. You have some talent young man.

Stepford Wives....?
You know, the more I read this, the more it takes me way back top the "B" movies of the 60s.

"B" doesn't mean they were bad, in fact lots of them became classics, and the storylines ran similar tp yours.

The chapter lengths could stand a little increasing now that you've established the plot, but that's not meant as a criticism, more an opinion.

It's a really good story, adn belies your age.

And now..............here comes the freaky part of the story.

Well held back and you've chosen the perfect timimg for releasing the plotline that's coming.

Nicley built up tension with a cliff-hanger at the end.

Had Potter grumbling at me for speed writing, but when the ideas are there, it's a shame to waste them. Thought one up last week just as I was dropping off to sleep, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was now. Must keep pen and pad by the bedside in future.
