About Myself: Married with two wonderful daughters. I have been jotting thoughts for my own amusement and sanity for about 8 years. Thought I'd have a bash more publicly.

Lots goes on inside my bean.

I live in a strange world with a somewhat rarified atmosphere. Sometimes it's fun to not be understood by people.

Sometimes I write from my daydreams, other times I write my own life.

Title article: The Letter
Date: 2008-07-16 10:48:27

Probably all I want to say has already been said. A cautionary tale to all of us who know we should take the time, but never make the time to take.
Well written, good twist at the end and a story with a moral!

Title article: Because It's There
Date: 2008-07-15 06:16:51

Phil,
Yes it is Brooklands. I grew up about a mile from the banking and used to play over there a lot as a kid.
I took my 10 year old daughter for a walk around the track last summer. I told her stories of my escapades, she thinks that her old man sliding down in a shopping trolley is hillarious.

Title article: Killing Me Softly
Date: 2008-07-04 17:29:15

I thought this was good, you see in my mind the ending was going to be very different. Particularly touched a nerve because I am allergic to poignancy. Example, always drive carefully after going to the hospital to see your child born - that's when you are likely to get killed. Avoid being a hero if once you were totally dependant on others you'll end up in a jam.

By the way have you looked at shortstory.us.com yet? no fake money changes hands...

Title article: The Enigma, Chapter 3
Date: 2008-07-04 06:24:45

It's been suggested that I expand the story into a novella or more. I'm also tempted to keep adding to it as I'm quite taken with the character of Emily. We'll see...

Title article: Engine Trouble
Date: 2008-07-04 06:21:00

At first I thought that perhaps you'd done a grown-ups Thomas the Tank Engine thing, but it soon became clear that the mistake was mine.

It put me very much in mind of works by the likes of Milligan, Seacombe etc.

A good sideways use of language. I very much liked the line "Load Of Old Bull was not one to be trifled with, even if you WERE using packet mixes".

Title article: Coles to Newcastle

Clever Title
I enjoyed the word play of the title. Unrequited love is always the greatest love, isn't? What might have been never has arguments or unhappy endings.
Your story telling gave Harold Coles a certain dignity. Good stuff.

Title article: The Last Hero
Date: 2008-06-19 16:45:09

I was brought up near Brooklands race track and played there as a kid. Kind of caught the Bluebird bug then. I met Gina Campbell a couple of years ago just after Bluebird had been recovered from Conniston. She is still clearly inspired by her amazing father.

Title article: Dancing Barefoot On Hot Coals
Date: 2008-06-19 16:32:14
No hidden agenda on this one
I saw the car in a museum. I had recently been to Goodwood Motor Circuit. The stretch of road is a favourite from motorcycling days. I'm married to "Alex". The story just kind of fell out of my head during lunch at work. Easy one really...

Title article: Again! AGAIN!!
Date: 2008-05-22 06:21:01
Well I liked it...
...and that scares me just a little bit.

Keep writing them, I like your style.

Title article: poisonous lie
Date: 2008-05-22 06:15:41

Got it all in there...

Short, punchy and good.
