About Myself: Married with two wonderful daughters. I have been jotting thoughts for my own amusement and sanity for about 8 years. Thought I'd have a bash more publicly.

Lots goes on inside my bean.

I live in a strange world with a somewhat rarified atmosphere. Sometimes it's fun to not be understood by people.

Sometimes I write from my daydreams, other times I write my own life.

Thank You All
For your comments. I found that writing the letter was a big part of the healing process. It was a big surprise to me to find that, despite what I thought, thirty years on there was still a lot to deal with. Maybe there always will be...

More please
Enjoyed it a lot. Printed it before I read it and thought that the format change was a schoolboy error. Turns out it was truly inspired!!

Good, Very Good.
I think that your story probably touches the child in everyone who lost a pet.
Echo C.RVard, excellent choice of words.

An insightful tale. Global media makes the world a very small place, we must not become complacent to the suffering of others.

Liked it! Perhaps embalming's a good option...

I like it
I like the way that you built the tempo up towards the end.

You are right
"A month or so ago, Lucy had swum across the river ... Andy wasn’t due to be coming over until much later that evening and the rest of Lucy’s family had gone out and she was bored." Lucy did mess up, but while she was seeing Andy.

Yeah, you're right Andy was not a bit ethical. I guess his regrets will come, but later.

Thanks for your comments, I'm glad that I have provoked thought.

I lost my father in January 1974, I was six years old. This letter was written to him some thirty years later.

Thanks for your input, it's my first go at this, so I'll take all comments on board.
