silence.

"townes van zandt isn't a poet." he says.
"how so? what are you?" i ask.
"a poet." he says.
"you're right then. townes van zandt is not you." i say.
i threw down money for my tab and left the bar.

writing poetry, it takes me as long as I can type— and that takes longer than i can think. i never force my mind to create a new poem.. i wait for my mind to compel me to write and when it does, i hand it a pen and watch as i smoke a cigarette.
