About Myself: My name is Barbie Dorrough. I hail from the coast of Mississippi, but currently reside in Japan. I smoke cigars, drink too much coffee and laugh way too loud. I have many interests as I possess a short attention span, but to name a few, I paint sporadically, sing kareoke obnoxiously, and write compulsively. Writing poetry is one of my favorite tasks, but reading others' moving words delights me to no end. Ha!

As Always
I loved it. I especially love Rebecca. Vulnerable yet streetwise. My heart breaks for her!
You never loose the palpable human qualities of your characters John. They are always so vividly real to me.

Its sick how much I get excited to see your new work!

To elaborate
John, you were "dead on" about the meaning of my story (excuse the pun)...But to really explain, I will have to welcome you into my mind. (Good luck).....
I was sitting on my balcony in the dark, feeling very much like the woman in my story...DEEPLY in love... I begin to ponder the depth of what Im feeling and a twisted thought occures to me...I have given away my heart...completely..However (now here is where the birth of the story comes in) I have a very dark sense of humor...thats right ..HUMOR...I could not help but think what were to happen if I were to give my heart....literally....how crazy does that sound? As my unfortunate charaters show, its not the most productive way to declare one's love. This story wasnt meant to inspire young lovers to drop like flies across the nation in declaration of their devotion to each other...It was meant as an ironic look at the deepest and strongest emotional cliche...and yet, what it sort of feels like to give away your heart for love.

Funny
You know, people often imagine hired assasins being so skilled and cunning, but dont they have to start somewhere? This was amusing.

Enjoyed
Beautifully sad.

Depth Personified
What I find intriguing about your story is that once you digest the horror of it, there is another level to explore. Your character is so self aware yet at the same time stunted emotionally . Such conditions seem to be at odds with themselves. Duality anyone? So often people find themselves trapped within themselves and still unable to see their self destruction. This art mirrors life.

Delightful Humor
I cant wait for the

(hee hee)
see how that felt? You should get back to work.

Perhaps it could have been the moving words of another poet...

Cigars and coffee!
I hate poetry but I read the profile and I think that is a great combination. Thick or skinny? I hope it's thick. Groucho-thick.

Actually I DON'T cosplay (dress up like an anime character); I sometimes wear kimonos or haoris... you know traditional Japanese clothing. Cosplay looks fun, but I think it's a little nuts.

I'm also trying to learn to speak Japanese. Learning to read and write it will be even more difficult (seeing as to how a lot of the characters were borrowed from the Chinese).

I'm sure you speak pretty good Japanese, no?

If you have any pictures, it'd be awesome if you could post some on this site.

I like the the Hostage Barbie picture you put up BTW.
