About Myself: I have a lifelong love of reading and a secret desire to be an author, that my chronic bouts of procrastination have always managed to stall. I read The Lord of The Rings when I was nine, and from that most excellent starting point have always felt my favourite genre to be fantasy, although I consider the definition of fantasy to be as broad as the mind can wander. I would like to recommend the following authors: Brian Lumley, Katherine Kerr, Raymond E Feist, Robert Jordan, Jean M Auel, Anne Rice, Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov and of course good ol' Tolkein. Wikipedia them or something, they're all excellent storytellers!

Title article: Her Face -- A Haiku
Date: 2008-08-24 21:59:51

I pictured my girlfriends face when I read this. If a haiku paints a mental picture, this one succeeded perfectly

Title article: The Possessor of All, Chapter 1
Date: 2008-08-24 21:48:42

For a first chapter, there was a lot of exposition. You might want to consider the idea that some of the explanations and scene setting can wait for other chapters. This was a lot of information to take in in one go, which can make it hard to follow.
I see some classic themes here, good vs evil, power and temptation, the holy grail (the ultimate prize). This shows that you have put a lot of thought into this story. In most great fantasies there is 'the dark one' and the agent of the light, tried and true characterisations, which bodes well for this story.

Title article: Suburban Hell
Date: 2008-08-24 21:29:54

That was riveting man, really good. I found myself wondering what the fuck was going on so badly that I could barely wait till the end. I have a suggestion: Give the man a choice to star in season 2, that way when he says no he gets shot. Otherwise the whole explanation from Mr Cole is unnecessary if he was only ever planning to shoot him. All in all a great story

Title article: A Toothy Tale
Date: 2008-08-24 21:10:21

I really really enjoyed this. I have worked in fruit and veg shops and listened to old couples arguing viciously over who said what and when about something as simple as "do we have any apples left at home?". I think the dynamics of the couple in this story are very common in a lot of relationships, when you find yourself arguing a point with your partner for no other reason than they 'might be wrong'. This story had a lot of accurate observations and was very entertaining.

Title article: A Child In The Garden
Date: 2008-08-24 20:48:26

Very interesting, and surreal. This had a biblical tone to the dialogue

Title article: As my mind falls apart
Date: 2008-08-24 20:45:08

I think I appreciate the theme here, but I cant help thinking you have limited the poem by choosing words that rhyme and writing the poem to fit them. "And hopefully these thoughts away from me will stream" seems like a poorly constructed line to me

Title article: PUT DOWN IN HULL (1965)
Date: 2008-08-24 20:39:29

It hard to judge this poem when I dont understand it. It rhymes well, and the wording wasn't inane, as far as I can tell

Title article: Brain Chatter
Date: 2008-08-24 20:37:08

This very different, and caught my attention. I often cant sleep from brain chatter like this. Good work

Title article: McFearless
Date: 2008-08-24 20:33:46

I liked this tale, very much reminds me of living fast dying young and leaving a beautiful corpse as a life motto. A lot of adrenaline junkies could relate to this tale. I think perhaps dominic's reactions to mcfearless' life threatening behaviour was unlikely, I myself would have at least been mad at him

Title article: Omniboredom
Date: 2008-08-24 20:21:34

Well thanks Mr Potter! Actually I'm on track to write a sequel to 'Lessons' which may explain this poem even more

Yeah, it's gonna have a lot more of a fantasy plot. I'm about to start the prologue in a little bit, and work out the plot some more.

Hehe enjoy! I think it turned out great.

There is a sequel in the talks. You think you'd be interested in doing another chapter?

The only authors i haven't read from your list are Kerr and Auel. Shame about Jordan, started reading the Wheel in 98.

Very nice work Dirkin. You should update that blog, I'll would be glad to link up. But, that's beside the point. You keep on writing, you're doing a hell of a job.

Okay, here's a better one:

Why don't Monsters eat Clowns?
Because they taste funny.

Heh...
Feedback from Mugen (Dirkin): Hmm i don't know any mexican jokes... (aussie), try this: why did the boy fall off the swingset? he had no arms.
