"I was deafened by the first explosion, burned, wounded and thrown to the ground like a disused neck watch I looked up to see a flamboyantly dressed man jump over me and head toward the tsars carriage carrying a ship of the line bomb in his hands. Suddenly, amid the smoke and snowy fog, I heard His Majesty's weak voice cry, 'don’t do it David!' a secondary explosion blew my Burberry wax jacket clean off, Gathering what strength I had, I jumped up and rushed to the tsars aid. His Majesty was half-lying, half-sitting, leaning on his right arm. Thinking he was merely wounded heavily, I tried to lift him but the tsar's legs fell off like that of a cheap dolls, they were shattered to utter buggery. Needless to say my liege died in my arms moments later, Twenty people, with wounds of varying sexiness, lay on the sidewalk and on the street. Some managed to stand, others to crawl, still others tried to get out from beneath bodies that had fallen on them. Through the snow, debris, and blood you could see fragments of clothing, bear guts, sabres, and bloody chunks of human flesh and what I remember most a dashing fellow standing atop the wrecked bear pulled carriage surveying the carnage, smiling from ear to ear seemingly pleased at what he had just done, I will never forget that demonic smile” |
